Food Engineering Scholarship
The FPSA Foundation annually awards two Food Engineering Scholarships of $2,500 program undergraduates enrolled in a food engineering curriculum. The scholarships are designed to attract and retain qualified personnel for the food processing industry, and to encourage deserving and outstanding students. Winners also receive a $500 travel grant to attend our Expo. Application materials are sent to universities in the Winter.
The Food Engineering Scholarship Program was established in 1983 as a memorial to food industry leaders Paul K. Girton and Gordon A. Houran. In their lifetimes, Girton and Houran made substantial contributions to developments and applications in the food processing industry.

FPSA/FPEI Food Engineering Award
Sponsored with the Food and Process Engineering Institute (FPEI) unit of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), the Food Engineering Award recognizes engineering contributions in research, development or design of food processes significant to the food industry; or in leadership, management or education to advance the food engineering profession in a career that has spanned more than 10 years.
In even-numbered years, the award recognizes the accomplishments of an "Emerging Food Engineer" (defined as less than 10 years' practice), while in odd-numbered years, a "Distinguished Food Engineer" is recognized.
The FPSA Foundation/FPEI Food Engineering Award recipient is presented with a gold medal, $2,000 cash, and paid travel expenses to the FPSA Annual Conference to accept the award, as well as being honored at the ASABE International Annual Meeting.
The award recipient is chosen by a seven-member jury, convened by ASABE. For more information, contact Carol Flautt in ASABE's Awards and Recognition department at 616-428-6336 or flautt@asabe.org.
